10 Facts you didn’t know about Prophet Muhammad
- Prophet Muhammad was an orphan. His father Abd Allah died before his birth, and his mother Aminah died when he was about 6 years old. He was taken care by his uncle Abu Talib.
- He was illiterate, he could neither read nor write.
- His first marriage was to a widow woman called Khadija, he was 25 years old and she was 40 years old. They were happily married for 25 years. Khadija passed away when she was 65 years old. During his marriage to Khadija he was not married to anybody else.
- He had 2 sons from Khadija both of them which died in their childhood.
- He first received the revelation from God when he was 40 years old, on the mount of Hira, through Angel Jibril (Gabriel).
- He believes in the same God as the Jesus (in Islam Jesus is considered a prophet, not a God), Moses, Abraham… and all the other prophets of God.
- He is the last prophet that God sent to mankind, there won’t be any prophets after him until the Day of Judgement.
- He was the descendant of prophet Ismail (Ishmael) the son of prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
- He was mentioned in the Bible as the coming prophet:Deut.18. “I will raise up a prophet like you from among the brethren and will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak them all that I command.”
- His prophethood lasted for 23 years, during which he received revelations from God. After his death revelations were compiled as a book called Quran.

Prophet Muhammad employed scribes(writers) and they are the ones who wrote the Quran under his guidance.All the scribes had to read back what they wrote and had to be all perfect, with what he said and ment.Thats why EVERY Quran in aribic in the world is the same. The only difference is in the translation of the Quran in english,spanish,german,etc.

We seem to have overlooked a fundamental problem. Muhammed was considered to be a prophet because he had genuine revelations from God. The claimed revelations of Muhammed were considered to be genuine because Muhammed was a prophet. Which happened first ie did Muhammed become a prophet or did he receive the revelations? We have a case of circular reasoning.

You really need to re-read Deuteronomy 18 again. This chapter states that they must be among the brotherhood (AKA ISRAELITE) which would actually exclude Muhammad from being a prophet! Deuteronomy 18 (and chapter 13)is supposed to be used as a guideline for all prophets, to test and make sure that they are real prophets and not false prophets!
Please know your sources (and don't just read the sentence but taking it in context) before making a remark like this!
The Prophet didn't attempt to kill those who left the faith, he let them be. It's not rape if it's consensual, and in ancient Egypt, 13 year olds gave birth, so why don't we hate them? While he did marry many women at once, they were outcasts in society and he married them so he could take care of them. He didn't rape or kill nonbelievers, the nonbelievers raped and killed the believers. Allah was the name of the main idol in the Kabbah, not his father. Jesus Christ isn't God, he is the son of God. I went to a course about the prophet SAW and his seerah.
For those who are asking i will explain that the prophet SAW did not write the quraan but it was sent to him by Allah SWT in revalations came down to him at different times and they did not come in the form of a book. The prophet SAW was told it by the anjel jibraeel (gabrail).People wrote down the quraan and after the prophet SAW passed away they made a book of it.

Actually, he is not the one that write the quran, it was receited to him through jubril, and he ordered his companion to write, and later after his death the quran was complied by the companion. Prophet muhammed his not illiterate, check what illiterate mean before ur conclusion. Well said. Also the Bible mentions that prophets must not tell or predict anything false. There are 66 books and about 40 authors in the Bible and the message doesn't contradict... the New Testament books were eye witness accounts by several trust worthy sources of prophesies fulfilled. Plus the Bible clearly prophesied about Jesus to be the savior of the world yet the Qur'an claims the Bible to be falsified and Jesus a mere prophet. And so Muhammad (sa) wasn't "illiterate" anymore.
And for the people asking about the written forms of Quran. Some might find it unbeliveable. But in those days paper wasnt that much available, the scholars of that time mostly depended on memorizing everything they have to remember. It was the initial condition. And Quran was reveled part by part, sura by sura, over a long period ot time. Some of it was written down in paper by existing believers for new believers to learn. After all, it started in a prohibiting environment.
It was mainly compiled and governmentally reproduced from the reign of third Khalifa Usmaan (ra).
For those who are having trouble believing the scholarly memorizing part, they still exist. They are called Hafiz. They memorize the whole Quran in Arabic, every word.
